Alibaba’s chip unit T-Head and Alipay, the payment service under Alibaba’s fintech unit Ant Group, will release computing chips for secure payments based on the RISC-V instruction set architecture.
The chip will be embedded in hardware devices and used to enhance mobile payments, the two companies said on Thursday.
An Alipay spokesperson said it would be placed in commercially available hardware devices soon and the chips would be produced in collaboration with other chip-design companies.
