Baidu-backed JIDU on Wednesday kicked off public reservations for a limited edition of its first automotive robot vehicle, the ROBO-01 Lunar Edition, with a limited supply of 1,000 units.

The ROBO-01 Lunar Edition is the first mass-produced edition of JIDU’s hyped automotive robot, jointly launched with China Lunar Exploration Program (CLEP). The model is integrated with the spiritual core of CLEP, and is decorated in the interior and exterior of the vehicle with exclusive light gold-colored ornaments and other CLEP-themed elements.

The two parties will cooperate in AI, human-machine interaction, popularization of cutting-edge technologies, and other aspects to enable the technological upgrading of automotive robot products, they said.

The ROBO-01 Lunar Edition will make its officially debut in October this year, and is expected for delivery in 2023 and meanwhile, the automaker’s second production model will be unveiled at the Auto Guangzhou 2022 in November this year, JIDU said.
