Cargo throughput at China’s major ports grew by 18.5% in July 21 – 31 from a year earlier, accelerating from the previous ten days, according to the China Ports and Harbours Association.

In breakdown, cargo through for foreign trade grew by 12.7% year over year, while that for domestic trade grew by 23.93% on year, it said.

At the eight major ports in coastal China, cargo throughput rose 26.8% on year, with cargo throughput for foreign trade surging 29.3% and that for domestic trade rising 19.3%. In breakdown, cargo throughput at Dalian Port jumped 69%, Shanghai Port up 54%, Ningbo Zhoushan port surging 68%.

For the month of July, cargo throughput at major ports grew by 8.4% from a year earlier, with that for foreign trade up 6.3% and for domestic trade up 10.5%, according to the association.

Cargo throughput at three major ports along the Yangtze River grew by 16.9% on year and container throughput grew 6.4%, showed the data.

Container throughput in the eight major container ports in coastal China rose 12.7% in July from a year ago, with that for foreign trade up 14.5% and domestic trade up 7.1%. In breakdown, container throughput at Dalian Port surged 41.5%, Shanghai Port up 16.8% and Ningbo Zhousan Port up 25%.
