Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways fell as much as 2.5% to hit a low of HK$7.43.

The airlines on Tuesday fired three cabin crew members accused by a Mandarin-speaking passenger of insulting and discriminating against non-English speakers.

The move came after details of the alleged incident aboard a flight from Chengdu to Hong Kong on Sunday were posted online. Some cabin crew members on the flight complained among themselves in English and Cantonese about customers and the flight attendants made fun of others’ language ability by saying “If you cannot say ‘blanket’, you cannot have it,” and “Carpet is on the floor”.

The Secretary for Transport and Logistics of Hong Kong, Frank Chan Fan, expressed concern about the discrimination incident and urged the management to improve the service immediately.
