China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) called on the country's steel industry to resolutely cut its crude steel output in 2021, as part of low-carbon initiatives under the country 14th Five-Year plan for 2021-25.

China's energy-intensive steel sector "must resolutely" reduce steel output to ensure a year-on-year decline, Xiao Yaqing, China's minister of industry and information technology said at a work conference this week, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
