China’s home price growth slowed in July across large and smaller cities as the government stepped up regulations to cool the housing market.

It marks the first time this year that new home price growth in tier-one, two and three cities all slowed down and also the first time that home sales measured by floor space and value both declined on year.

New-house prices across China’s four first-tier cities — Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou — rose 0.4 per cent month over month in July, 0.3 of a percentage point . . .
