A total of 45 new major water conservancy projects have started construction so far this year, marking a record high, said Liu Weiping, Vice Minister of Water Resources.

China made 1.1 trillion yuan of investment in water conservancy projects in the first ten months of the year, surging 53% from the same period last year, and completed 921.1 billion yuan of investment in water conservancy projects in the period, surging 63% on year, he said.
