China plans to increase its coal capacity by 300 million tonnes this year and improve the review and approval system for coal production and coal project construction, in a move to ensure energy supplies.

China should support coal as a main energy source, improve review and approval mechanism for coal production and project construction, identify local governments' responsibilities in ensuring coal supply and fully release advanced coal capacity, the State Council said at a meeting . . .
