China's Alipay allows users to test digital yuan as Ant-backed MYBank takes part in pilot

Alipay, China’s biggest third-party mobile payment platform operated by Alibaba's fintech affiliate Ant Group, has become the first private financial services provider to be included in the country’s pilot for its sovereign digital currency.

The Alipay app, which connects 80 million vendors with 2,000 partner financial institutions and more than one billion users, now appears in the central bank-backed digital yuan wallet alongside six state-owned lenders, the state-owned China Securities Journal reported on Monday.
