Automobile sales in China fell 18.7 per cent in January, more than expected and marking the industry’s 19th consecutive month of sales decline, data from the country’s biggest auto industry association showed on Wednesday.

Passenger car sales fell 20.6 per cent year on year in January to 1.6 million vehicles, 27.4 per cent down from the previous month. Passenger car output fell 28.1 per cent from a year earlier, down 34.3 per cent from the previous month.
