China’s auto sales tumbled 78% in February, full-year sales to drop 8%

China's auto sales tumbled nearly 80 per cent in February as the coronavirus outbreak kept consumers away from showrooms. Industry body expects the full-year sales to decline by 8 per cent and the drop could be even larger without government stimulus measures.

China's passenger car sales slumped 78.5 per cent in February from a year earlier to about 252,000 vehicles, said China Passenger Car Association. For the first two month, car sales declined 41 per cent from the same period last year.
