China's automobile production and sales declined on year in the first half of 2022 amid challenges including a shortage of auto chips, surging prices of power battery materials and the impact of the Covid outbreaks.

China produced 12.12 million units of cars in the first half and sold 12.06 million units during the period, falling by 3.7% and 6.6%, respectively, from the same period last year, according to data released . . .
