China’s crude steel production fell 2.2% in 2022 amid weak demand, steel prices fell – industry body

China's crude steel output is estimated to have reached 1.01 billion tonnes in 2022, falling by 2.2% from the previous year, said Qu Xiuli, vice president and secretary general of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), at an industry conference on Sunday.

Official data have shown that the country's crude steel output declined by 1.4% year over year in the first 11 months of 2022 to 935 million tonnes.
