China’s domestic travel bookings during the May Day holiday doubled that for the Spring Festival holiday and hit a new record high for the same period, according to data from online travel agency Fliggy.
Sales of tickets for domestic tourist attractions surged 127% from the Spring Festival holiday, domestic hotel bookings jumped 95%, and train ticket bookings increased by 117%, showed the data.
The average transactions per customer increased by about 50% from a year earlier, according to the data.
Bookings for long and medium-haul tours accounted for more than 90% of the total and the booking volume for high-star hotels surged by 7 times from last year, showed the data.
