China's record excavator sales in March point to pickup in infrastructure construction

China's excavator sales hit a new record high in March, operating rate of construction machineries climbed and commodity transactions picked up, indicating that infrastructure construction has gathered pace after the authority ramped up measures to spur investment.

China's 25 leading industrial machinery makers sold 49,408 excavators in March, 11.59 per cent higher than the previous record high of 44,278 units in March last year, according to China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA). The association anticipates excavator sales to surge by 55 per cent in April.
