China’s export hub Guangdong province saw exports rise 2.4% on year in first half

South China’s Guangdong province, one of the country’s economic powerhouse and export hub, said its total exports and imports reached 4.6 trillion yuan in the first seven months of the year, rising 2.4% from a year earlier, according to the provincial customs administration.

In breakdown, exports rose 6.9% on year to 2.91 trillion yuan and imports fell 1.45% to 1.69 trillion yuan, showed the data.

Exports of electric mechanical products grew by 4.3% on year and accounted for 67.2% of the province’s total and exports of labor-intensive products such as shoes, suitcases, etc, grew by 5.7% and accounted for 16.4% of the total.

Imports of integrated circuits rose by 1.6% on year and accounted for 35.5% of Guangdong’ total imports. Imports of crude oil rose 13.2%, coal slid 39.1% and iron ore fell 3.3%, showed the data.
