China’s installed power capacity up 8.1% on year in first half, operating hours of power generation equipments fell

China’s installed capacity of electric power generation reached 2.44 billion kW in the first six months of the year, rising 8.1% from a year earlier, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA).

That included about 340 million kW on wind power installed capacity, surging 17.2% from a year earlier and about 340 million kW, surging 25.8% from a year earlier, showed the data.

Average operating time of China’s power generation equipments reached 1,777 hours in January – June, falling by 81 hours from the same period last year, it said.

In breakdown, operating time of coal-fired power generation equipments reached 2,057 hours in the period, falling by 133 hours from a year earlier; nuclear power reached 3,673 hours, down 132 hours; wind power reached 1,154 hours, down 58 hours, it said.

China’s completed investment in power generation projects reached 215.8 billion yuan in the six-month period, rising 14% from a year earlier, and in particular, solar power generation investment surged by 283.6% on year to 63.1 billion yuan, said the NEA.

Complete investment in power grids reached 190.5 billion yuan in the first half, rising 9.9% from a year ago, it added.
