China's lithium price has jumped above 180,000 yuan per tonne mark to hit a new record high driven by robust demand for new energy vehicles across the world.

According to data from consultancy Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), prices of battery-grade lithium hit 184,800 yuan per tonne on October 12, brining its year-to-date gain to 248 per cent and surging 360 per cent from the same period last year.
