China accelerated issuance of local government special-purpose bonds and further expanded the scope of projects eligible for the bonds, in a bid to boost investment and support the slowing economy as downward pressure increases.
“This year's issuance of special-purpose bonds started early and the progress was significantly faster than in previous years," said Xu Hongcai, Vice Minister of Finance, at a news conference on Tuesday.
