China’s mobile phone shipments plunged over 30% on year in July

China’s mobile phone shipments tumbled by 30.6% in July from a year earlier to 19.91 million units, and that included 14.67 million units of 5G-enabled phones, sliding 35.7% from a year ago and accounting for 73.7% of the total, according China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In the first seven months of the year, China’s smartphone shipments declined 23% year over year to 156 million units, and that included 124 million units of 5G-enabled phones, sliding 17.7% from a year ago and accounting for 79.3% of the total, showed the data.
