New home prices in China grew at the fastest pace in eight months in April, despite the government's stepped-up efforts to tame the housing market.

Average new home prices in 70 major cities grew 0.6 per cent in April from a month earlier, the fastest rate since August 2020 and accelerating from a 0.5 per cent rise in the previous month, showed calculations based on data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday.
