China’s Q3 crude steel output rose 10%, full-year output likely to jump above 1 billion tonnes for first time ever

China's full-year crude steel output in 2020 is expected to jump above 1 billion tonnes for the first time ever, Qu Xiuli, deputy head of the China Iron & Steel Association (CISA), the country's largest steel industry body, said at a conference on Monday.

"Steel industry production has been picking up rapidly" said Qu. Earlier data released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed that, in the first nine months of the year, the country's crude steel output increased 4.5 per cent from a year earlier to about 780 million tonnes. In . . .
