China’s railway network recorded a total of 1.77 billion passenger trips in the first half of 2023, close to the volume during the same period in 2019, according to data released by China Railway on Sunday.
In particular, railway passenger trips in April, May and June rose by 7.6%, 5.6%, and 4.8%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019, showed the data. In particular, railway passenger trips on April 29 reached 19.661 million, marking the highest on record.
In the first half of the year, an average of 9,311 passenger trains were operated per day, an increase of 11.4% from the same period in 2019.
