China’s thermal coal market shows no sign of cooling down despite government pledge to increase supply

China's thermal coal prices had climbed since March this year and after some corrections in May following the government's pledge to stabilize the market, the prices recently resumed the uptrend move amid robust demand and tight supplies.

Since late June, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, forecast that thermal coal market would enter a downward channel in July and pledged to take measures to ensure coal supplies and stabilize coal prices.
