China’s top coal firm approved 58 mln tonnes new coal capacity in first half

China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy), the world’s largest producer of coal and coal-fired power, said it approved a 58 million tonne of newly increased coal capacity at 18 coal miners in the first half of the year.

In total, the company produced 300 million tonnes of coal in the first half, rising by 6.2% from a year earlier; and it sold 390 million tonnes of coal in the period.

The company’s power generation reached 526.4 billion kWh in the first half, rising by 1% from a year earlier, it said.

The company’s revenue, profit and net profit for the first half of the year all hit new record highs, it said.
