China’s tour bookings surge for Mid-Autumn Festival, most choose short-distance travel as Covid-19 concerns linger

As Mid-Autumn Festival holiday approaches, China's tour bookings are surging as restrictions on movement have been mostly lifted following containment of recent coronavirus outbreaks. However, most travellers will be eschewing long distance trips for holidays closer to home as worries over possible Covid-19 resurgence linger.

In the period of August 23 - September 6, interprovincial tour bookings for the holiday which runs for three days from September 19 jumped by 365 per cent, while more niche private group tours surged by 550 per cent, according to data from Ctrip, China's top online travel agency . . .
