China's tourist number has recovered to pre-pandemic levels during the May Day holidays, although total tourism revenue remained lower after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

China recorded around 230 million tourist trips over the holiday in May 1-5 which gave workers a long-awaited opportunity to travel after they were urged to stay put for Lunar New Year holiday in mid-February to stave off the risk of a COVID-19 resurgence, according to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

That's up 119.7 per cent . . .
