China’s wheat imports more than doubled in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period last year boosted by strong growth in domestic demand for high-quality wheat, said the Ministry of Commerce.

As the world’s largest consumer of wheat, China brought in 4.28 million tonnes of wheat in the January - July period, rising 116.3 per cent year over year, said the ministry on Friday.

The amount is more that the 3.48 million tonnes for the full year of 2019, according to data from the Ministry . . .
