Chinese automaker BYD Company sold 162,530 new energy vehicles in July, surging 221.9% from 50,492 units a year earlier and up 21.3% from 134,036 units in June, the company said on Wednesday.

The largest NEV maker in China said it sold 4,026 new energy passenger vehicles in overseas markets last month, providing breakdown in its monthly sales report for the first time.

In the first seven months of the year, BYD’s NEV sales reached 803,880 units, jumping 292% from the same period last year. That included 162,214 units on passenger vehicles and 316 units commercial vehicles.

BYD’s installed capacity of power batteries and energy storage batteries in July reached about 7.287 GWh, surging 142.8% from a year earlier and up 6.2% from the previous month, it said. Its cumulative installed battery capacity in the first seven months of the year reached 41.329 GWh.
