Foxconn Technology Group, a supplier to Apple Inc., is recruiting a large number of workers to meet the demand for iPhones during peak season.

Foxconn is offering 21 yuan ($3) per hour from now until Jan. 31 and 19 yuan per hour from February 1 to new hourly workers to produce, assemble, and test iPhones at its Shenzhen plant, according to a recruitment advertisement.

Foxconn is also hiring at its Zhengzhou factory, according to state-run Securities Times, but it did not specify the hourly salary amount. Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant is the main iPhone manufacturing base.

A work team settled at the factory to implement a series of epidemic containment measures, including the deployment of mobile testing vehicles and medical resources, and closed-off management of commuting workers, the local authorities in Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, where the factory is located, said on Thursday.

“There are no severe cases for now, and production at the Zhengzhou plant is normal,” said Sun Jiange, the official in charge. The government provided Foxconn with masks, disinfectant wipes, and medicine.
