Apple supplier Foxconn on Wednesday denied rumors that about 20,000 staff have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the company’s Zhengzhou park in Central China’s Henan province.

“Operation and production in the Zhengzhou park is relatively stable with health and safety measures for employees being maintained,” Foxconn said, calling the online rumors “false.”

“For the small number of employees affected by the pandemic, Foxconn, in compliance with local epidemic prevention policies, is providing the necessary guarantees for livelihoods, including material supplies, psychological comfort and responsive feedback,” it said.

The impact of Zhenghou’s epidemic control work the company is controllable and operation outlook for this quarter is unchanged, it said.

The Zhengzhou facility is the main manufacturing base for Foxconn to produce iPhones, with more than 90 production lines and about 350,000 workers.
