Guangdong province will vigorously promote fuel-efficient vehicles and new energy vehicles, study and formulate subsidy policies and promote electrification of urban public transportation and freight delivery vehicles, according to an action plan for achieving carbon-peaking and carbon-neutrality released by the provincial government on Tuesday.

Guangdong will gradually lower the proportion of traditional fuel vehicles and promote electrification of private cars, it said.

The province will develop hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in an orderly manner, and steadily promote the replacement of conventional fuel commercial vehicles and special vehicles by electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, it said.

By 2030, newly added new energy and clean energy vehicles will accounted for in around 40% of the total of the year and sales of electric passenger cars will account for more than 30% of new passenger car sales and the carbon emissions intensity per unit of turnover of transportation operations will drop by 10% compared to 2020, it said.
