While a number of Chinese local governments have announced measures to shore up housing markets hard hit by the coronavirus outbreak, Hainan province is doing the opposite, becoming the first local government to tighten property curbs during the epidemic.

Local residents who own two houses will not be eligible to buy more houses, according to a document released by the provincial government on Saturday.
