Hong Kong’s GDP shrank by 4.2% year over year in real terms in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to advance estimates by the Census and Statistics Department, compared with a contraction of 4.6% in the third quarter.

The decline of GDP was mainly attributable to the continued weak performance in external trade during the quarter.

For the whole of 2022, Hong Kong’s GDP contracted by 3.5% in real terms from the previous year, showed the data.
