The Hang Seng Index fell 1.2% to close at 14,687. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index slid 1.8%. The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 1.05% to end at 2,852 after surging as much as 5% to hit 2,959 intraday.

Technology heavyweights closed mixed, with Meituan up 2.5%, Tencent up 2.4%, Nio up 1.7, Xiaomi up 1%, while Alibaba, Baidu and JD.com closing lower.

Mainland property developers tumbled, with Longfor Group slumping 23.8%, Greentown China down 13.3%, China Vanke down nearly 11%, Country Garden sliding 9.8%, Seazen Holding falling 8.7%. Oil companies, coal miners, catering companies, home appliance makers, building material suppliers, airlines, infrastructure companies, banks and shipping companies were mostly lower.

Apple Inc suppliers outperformed, with BYD Electronics surging 13.4% and AAC Tech up 12.3%. Automakers, casino operators, mobile game companies and biopharmaceutical companies were mostly higher.
