Hotpot chain Haidilao saw customers in mainland China surge 65% on year in first three days of holiday

China’s largest hotpot restaurant chain Haidilao International said that its physical stores across mainland China served nearly 5.3 million customers in the first three days of the May Day holiday, surging by roughly 65% from the same period period last year. 

In particular, the number of customers at Haidilao’s restaurants in Zibo city, which has recently become one of the most popular domestic travel destinations, soared 4.7 times year over year, it said. 

The customer figures in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, Xi’an and Dali also posted steady uptick, with an average growth of almost 40% year over year, it said.
