East China’s Jiangxi province is expected to see a peak of Covid infections in early January next year, before infections decline to low levels in early March, said the provincial health authority at a press conference on Friday.

The outbreaks expected to last for around three months and infection rate will eventually reach nearly 80%, he said.

Most regions in the province are expected to hit a peak of Covid infection in around a week, he added.

On the same day, local authority in east China’s Anhui province said most regions in Anhui are expected to see Covid-19 outbreaks hit a peak by the end of this month.

After staying at peak levels for 2 – 3 days, Covid infections are expected to start a downtrend, said Tao Yisheng, head of the provincial health authority, at a press conference on Friday.

Some regions with higher population density and higher human mobility are expected to see earlier peak than others and for instance, the provincial capital city is expected to see a peak on Dec 25 – 26, he said.
