Chinese electric vehicle maker Li Auto’s intelligent driving artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm head and chief AI scientist Simon Wang Yilun will soon leave the company, reported Chinese tech news outlet 36Kr, citing sources.

Wang was mainly responsible for AI algorithm development including smart driving perception and maps and he reported to Lang Xianpeng, the company’s vice president of smart driving, according to the report.

He is expected to leave at the end of the month and Li Auto is looking for an algorithm VP to take over Wang’s job, it said.

Wang, who graduated from Stanford University with a degree in computer science and was a senior expert in Huawei’s automotive business unit, joined Li Auto in December 2020.
