Meituan to incorporate ride-hailing business into Meituan platform to reduce input – report

Food delivery giant Meituan is considering restructuring its online ride-hailing business, reported Chinese news outlet Sina Tech. 

The online ride-hailing unit of Meituan will be incorporated into the Meituan platform, with the aim to reduce the input of resources and manpower, the report said, citing an internal letter issued by the company’s founder Wang Xing. 

Following the restructuring, a portion of the ride-hailing unit’s staff will be progressively transferred to other business lines, the letter revealed.
