New home sales in major Chinese cities fell over 50% on year during Dragon Boat Festival

China's new home sales slid by more than 50 per cent in the Dragon Boat Festival compared to the same period last year as the country's housing market continued to cool amid tightening policies.

In the three-day holiday period, new home transactions in China's top 20 cities totaled 7,868 units, down 68.94 per cent from a month earlier and down 57.1 per cent from the same period last year, according to the Chinese property data provider Zhuege House Hunter.
