New home sales in major Chinese cities extended a downtrend in February, partly due to the impact of the Spring Festival Holiday and also because confidence in the housing market remained weak.

New home sales in China's 16 major cities declined 23.4% in February from a month earlier, sliding 31.3% from the same period last year, according to data from China Index Academy, one of the country's largest independent real estate . . .
