Online searches for trips to Macau surged as four provinces and one city in mainland China set to resume group tours to the casino hub.
Four provinces and one city in mainland China are about to resume group tours to Macau, with the city’s health bureau issuing them guidelines around capacity limits and Covid testing frequency, Teledifusão de Macau reported, citing a document issued by health officials.
According to online travel agency Tongcheng Travel, within an hour of the news, Macao-related searches jumped. The popularity of “Macao” as a keyword jumped 237% over the same period a day ago, searches for hotels in Macao were up 160%, and the number of queries for air tickets and flights between the mainland and Macao rose 150%.
Major travel companies, including Spring Tour said that they expect to resume mainland group tours to Macao next month and have starting planning. But since group tours to Macao and Hong Kong have been suspended for a long time, they need time to make plans while awaiting official notice from the authorities.
