A number of local governments in China's most developed and wealthiest regions see industrial profits plummet by double digits in the first eight months of the year, underscoring the increasing downward pressure on the world’s second-largest economy.
Of the ten provincial-level regions of eastern China, six saw industrial companies’ profits decline year-on-year in the period from January to August, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
