Shanghai will lift restrictions on access to residential compounds, starting from June 1, said the local government on Monday, ending the lockdown that has lasted for two months.

From 00:00 on June 1, Shanghai residents will be able to freely enter and exit their neighborhoods, and public transportation, taxi services and vehicle movement will resume in an orderly manner, it said.

Except for high-risk areas for Covid and quarantine areas, district officials, community officials and property managers are not allowed to restrict residents’ movement for any reason, it said.
