China's commercial and financial hub of Shanghai will lift restrictions on access to residential compounds, starting from June 1, said the local government on Monday, ending the lockdown that has lasted for two months.

From June 1, Shanghai residents will be able to freely enter and exit their neighborhoods, and public transportation, taxi services and vehicle movement will resume in an orderly manner, it said.
