Container shipping rates declined slightly in the past two weeks after authorities pledged efforts to increase shipping capacity and cargo demand eases.

The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index stood at 2,861.69 on January 29, falling for the second consecutive week, down 0.8 per cent from two weeks earlier, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.

The cost of container shipping from Shanghai to Europe and to the US East Coast declined slightly . . .
