Shares of Trip.com jumped as much as 8.2% to hit HK$224 at one point, before paring gains to 3.77%, boosted by surging flight bookings after Hong Kong removed mandatory hotel quarantine for all arrivals.

Trip.com (Hong Kong) tracked an almost 400% jump in outbound flight bookings on September 24 – 25 compared to the same period last week, after the Hong Kong government announced the decision to removal of required hotel quarantines for all arrivals, the online travel agency said.

In addition, the platform registered a spike of 155% in inbound flight bookings, it aid.

The top five outbound flight destinations were Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore and Osaka, with flight bookings skyrocketing 628% (Bangkok), 700% (Seoul), 1,385% (Tokyo), 197% (Singapore) and 7,300% (Osaka), compared to a week earlier.

Most of the outbound flight bookings are for the National Day holiday and the Christmas holiday and the average lengthen of the holiday bookings for Hong Kong travelers is 3 – 4 days, according to Trip.com.
