President Xi signed national security law for Hong Kong, US halts regulations allowing special treatment to the city


Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a landmark national security law for Hong Kong after the Standing Committee of China's National People’s Congress earlier Tuesday voted unanimously to pass the legislation.

The top decision-making body also adopted a decision to write the legislation, aimed at barring secession, subversion, terrorism and foreign interference in Hong Kong, into the former British colony’s Basic Law, Xinhua News Agency reported.
