Volkswagen’s China JV plans necessary adjustment to Nanjing plant

SAIC Volkswagen Automotive, the joint venture of China's SAIC Motor and Germany's Volkswagen Group, plans a “necessary” adjustment to its production base in Nanjing, the company said, following reports that it intends to close the plant.

“Based on corporate strategic planning and market demand, adjustments to production bases are normal and necessary business practices,” the company said. “The adjustments are not only an active response to current trends but also proactive planning and investment for future development.”
