Sunny Optical, an Apple camera supplier, said its shipments of handset lens slid 25.3% in April from a year earlier to 95.6 million units, mainly due to a high base last year, and the current weak demand in the overall smartphone market.
On a month-on-month basis, April’s shipments rose 13.4%, mainly due to the major smartphone brands manufacturers’ stocking for the launch of new phone models, it said.
Shipments of handset camera modules reached 46.187 million units, down 9.7% from a year ago but up 26.9% from a month earlier.
Shipments of vehicle lens sets increased by 23.1% year over year to 7.796 million units, mainly due to increased demand from the vehicle camera market with the relief of the key components shortage in the auto supply chain.
